About Lede

Lede is a news reader that does the sorting for you.

What Lede is

Lede reads public news feeds, blogs and newsrooms, puts coverage of the same event together into one story, and ranks a feed around the topics you follow. Every story links back to the original articles.

How it works

  • It reads public feeds. Lede's servers collect headlines and short excerpts that publishers offer openly through their feeds.
  • It merges duplicates. Twenty articles about one event become one story, with every source listed.
  • It explains. Each story says what happened, why it matters and what changed. Each analysis states whether an AI model or Lede's built-in engine wrote it.
  • It briefs you. A daily brief, a weekly briefing and an Ask box answer from the stories Lede has read, with sources.

No account

There is nothing to sign up for. Your browser or app install gets a random id, and your topics, saved stories and alerts are tied to that id. The trade-off is that your reading list lives on one device. Read the Privacy Policy for the details.

Publishers own their work

Lede is not a publisher. Headlines, excerpts and articles belong to the publishers who wrote them, and Lede sends you to the original to read the full piece.
