Terms of Service

These terms apply to the Lede website and apps. Please read them together with the Privacy Policy. You must be old enough to agree to a contract where you live, or use Lede with a parent or guardian's permission.

Lede collects public news sources, groups them into stories and presents them to you. It is offered as is and as available. Coverage can be late, incomplete or wrong, and a source can change or disappear.

Lede has no accounts. Your topics and saved stories are tied to a random id on your browser or device. Clearing site data, uninstalling the app or switching devices starts a new empty reader unless you restore a purchase. You are responsible for your device.

Articles, headlines, images and trademarks belong to their publishers and owners. Lede shows headlines, short excerpts and its own summaries, and links to the original. Lede does not claim ownership of, or a licence over, what publishers wrote.

If you are a rights holder and believe something on Lede should be changed or removed, contact us at github.com/nhaajtt/lede/issues with the address of the story and we will look into it.

Some summaries, analyses, briefs and answers are written by an AI model, and others by Lede's built-in engine. Each says which. Both can misread a source, leave out something important or state something that is not true.

Check the original article before you rely on anything, and never treat Lede as financial, legal, medical or other professional advice.

Lede Pro is an optional paid plan. The price and period are shown before you buy. In the apps the purchase is made and billed by Apple or Google; on the web it is billed by Stripe.

• Renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or through the link in your Stripe receipt. Deleting the app or your Lede data does not cancel it.
• Refunds. Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. For web purchases, contact us.
• Restoring. Use Restore purchases in the app to bring Pro back on a new device.

Lede may show sponsor cards, always labelled as sponsored. A sponsor's inclusion is not an endorsement, and a sponsor never changes how a story is ranked or written.

Please use Lede fairly. You agree not to:

• attack, overload or probe the service, or work around its limits;
• scrape it at scale, or resell or republish it as your own;
• use it to break the law or to harass anyone;
• try to reach data that belongs to another reader.

The Privacy Policy explains what is stored. You can export or delete your data at any time in Settings.

We may change, limit or stop features, including free ones, and the service may be unavailable at times. Where you have paid for a period, we will not remove what you paid for without a remedy the law requires.

To the extent the law allows, Lede is provided without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted operation.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by relying on Lede content, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for Lede in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits a right or liability that cannot be limited by law, including consumer rights where you live.

You can stop using Lede at any time and delete your data in Settings. We may suspend access that breaks these terms or harms the service.

These terms are governed by [Governing law: to be specified by the operator before launch].

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and continuing to use Lede after an update means you accept it.
